Helensburgh-RNLI-Lifeboat-attends-report-of-fire-on-boat

Byline: At 1559 hours on Tuesday 2nd April, 2013 Belfast Coastguard requested the launch of Helensburgh RNLI Lifeboat after receiving a report from the crew of the yacht ‘Aiaz Motte’ that they had a fire on board.
Page Content: The lifeboat was launched at 1604 hours and some 4 minutes later the lifeboat crew reported that they were alongside the casualty vessel off Rosneath Caravan Park.  After going on board to investigate, the lifeboat crew established that when the yacht’s engine had been started, there had been a lot of smoke in the cabin however after the engine was switched off, the smoke had dissipated.   As the situation was under control and the yacht’s crew required no further assistance and were happy to proceed under sail, the lifeboat escorted ‘Aiaz Motte’ until it was safely back on its mooring at the Helensburgh Sailing Club.

The Lifeboat then returned to station, reporting ready for service again at 1645 hours.
