The lifeboat arrived on the scene of the casualty at approximately 6.10pm. The lifeboat then launched its daughter craft “Y” boat which proceeded into the cove at the foot of the cliff where the casualty had fallen. The 2 crew of the “Y” boat aided a paramedic and a member of the coastguards who had been lowered down the cliff to stabilise the casualty and prepare him for extraction from the location by helicopter.
After Rescue 137 Sea King helicopter from Lossiemouth had lifted the casualty from the foot of the cove, the “Y” boat crew then returned to the lifeboat, and it returned to Peterhead. The lifeboat returned to its berth at 7.50pm. The sea condition was a slight swell and wind was force 1 – 2.
