Byline: Tobermory RNLI lifeboat launched shortly after 6am this morning to a cargo ship which has run aground on the east coast of the Isle of Mull.

Tobermory’s Severn class lifeboat, Elizabeth Fairlie Ramsey is currently alongside the ninety metre coaster which is aground on rocks to the south of Tobermory and taking on water. Several of the volunteer crew are on board the vessel assisting the cargo ship’s crew in operating pumping equipment.

The lifeboat will be standing by overnight before an operation to refloat the vessel commences on Saturday.
