Busy-day-for-Ramsgate-RNLI-Lifeboats

Byline: Both of Ramsgate RNLI’s lifeboats, the inshore Atlantic 75 class “Bob Turnbull” and the all weather Trent class “Esme Anderson”, were launched to three separate incidents during Wednesday 24th. July.
Page Content: The first call was at 12:43pm when the inshore lifeboat was launched to assist a 25ft. yacht with engine failure off Broadstairs and two people on board. The lifeboat towed the yacht safely into Ramsgate Harbour.

At 4:25pm the all weather launched to another, larger, yacht with engine failure and two crew, this time some 16 miles East of Ramsgate. Again this yacht was safely towed into Ramsgate Harbour with the RNLI volunteer crew managing to leave the lifeboat station around 8:30pm after refueling the lifeboat in readiness for any future call.

In fact the next call was for the inshore lifeboat and came at 11:27pm when it was launched to conduct a search on the River Stour following a report of a 69 year old missing man in a canoe somewhere between Grove Ferry and Sandwich. The canoe started out with two persons on board, but one of them came ashore. The remaining canoeist continued on his way but was reported as overdue. The mobile Coastguard unit found the missing canoeist near the demolished Richborough Power Station site and once the man’s identity had been confirmed the RNLI lifeboat was released from service.
