A-shout-a-day-for-Ramsgate-RNLI-Lifeboats

Byline: Both of Ramsgate RNLI’s lifeboats have been launched to incidents over the last three days.
Page Content: On Friday, 2nd. August at 3:36am Ramsgate RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was launched to assist two swimmers reported in difficulty off Dumpton Gap, Broadstairs. The lifeboat left Ramsgate Harbour but was shortly stood down and the early morning volunteer crew returned to station as the swimmers were now reported safely ashore.

On Saturday, 3rd. August at 11:29am the all weather lifeboat launched to a 40ft yacht off North Foreland with engine failure. Whilst on route to the yacht the lifeboat crew were asked to divert to a small inflatable dinghy with 2 people on board who were possibly in difficulty off Botany Bay, Kingsgate. The lifeboat stood by until the dinghy was safely brought ashore by the RNLI Beach Lifeguards, then returned to the yacht which was taken under tow and, with its two crew, safely brought into Ramsgate Harbour.

Then on Sunday 4th. August at 3.05pm the visitors to the RNLI Lifeboat Station’s successful open day were able to witness the launch of the inshore lifeboat which was called out to a small boat with three people on board which had run aground on a sandbank on a falling tide in the mouth of the River Stour off Pegwell Bay, Ramsgate. At the request of the Coastguard the lifeboat stood by the stranded boat until it refloated on the rising tide some hours later.
