Criccieth-lifeboats-respond-to-two-incidents

Byline: On August 20th, 2013 volunteer crew members from Criccieth’s RNLI lifeboat station responded to two incidents in quick succession after being requested to launch twice within less than half-an-hour.
Page Content: The first incident occurred at 3.17pm after HM Coastguard received reports of a woman stuck in mud on the foreshore at Borth y Gest.  Given its near-shore location – crew members quickly rigged the station’s inshore rescue boat, Margaret a Nantw, to the land rover and proceeded towards the village.  Thankfully, whilst en-route they were asked to return to station as the woman had managed to free herself.

As the crew were placing the inshore rescue boat back in its container, their pagers sounded again at 3.38pm with a request to launch the station’s larger Atlantic 85 class lifeboat, Doris Joan.  The crew were tasked to conduct a search for two boys reported missing off Black Rock sands whilst body-boarding.  The lifeboat was promptly launched; as it began executing a shoreline search the crew were informed that both boys had been found safe and well ashore.
