Ramsgate-searches-for-missing-swimmer-and-aids-local-potting-boat

Byline: On Thursday 5th. September at 4:35pm both Ramsgate RNLI’s all weather Trent class and inshore Atlantic 75 class lifeboats launched to search for a missing swimmer off Ramsgate Main Sands.

The swimmer had been seen going into the sea but was no longer visible and had not been seen returning to the shore. Both boats along with several other vessels in the area carried out an extensive search until the Coastguard called the search off as the swimmer had come ashore in a different spot to where he went in and had walked back to his car unaware of the search going on.  The call was treated as a false alarm with good intent.

On 8th. September at 10:02pm the inshore boat launched again to assist a small local potting boat with a flat battery off Ramsgate. The RNLI lifeboat crew went out to the vessel with a spare battery, which the casualty’s skipper fitted, and was then able to start his engine and carry on under his own power whilst the lifeboat returned to station.
