Byline: Eastbourne RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat (ALB) was launched at 08.20 this morning (10 March) in response to a call for help from a Belgium registered fishing trawler 20 miles offshore from Sovereign Harbour.
Page Content: Initial information from the 23 metre trawler ‘Morgenster, indicated that a crewman had sustained a serious blow to the head and required urgent medical attention. With the trawler steaming towards Eastbourne and the lifeboat using all of its 25 knot capability, the distance was soon covered. Once alongside, the injured crewman’s condition was assessed and he was then transferred to the ALB for further first aid treatment while the ALB returned to harbour.

On arrival at Sovereign Harbour the casualty was transferred into the care of a waiting ambulance crew and taken to Eastbourne’s District General Hospital
