On board the stricken vessel, which was drifting near to Criccieth Castle, were 6 persons including one child. Although another, accompanying vessel was already on-scene and attempting to tow the vessel away from the castle, it was decided to use the station’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Doris Joan to tow the speedboat to Mochras from where it had earlier set off.

Once the speedboat had been safely returned to Mochras, the lifeboat returned to station and made ready for service.
