Byline: On Sunday morning (8 of June) at 00:09 Invergordon RNLI Lifeboat crew received a call from Aberdeen Coastguard to assist in a search for a missing 19 year old male around Nairn Harbour.

The
Invergordon Trent Class Lifeboat ‘Douglas Aikman Smith’ and her volunteer crew
launched and made their way to Nairn. SAR units on scene already were Rescue
137 Helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth, Moray Inshore Lifeboat, Local Coastguard
teams Police Scotland Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and
Scottish Ambulance Service. 

Arriving
on scene around 00:50, started a strategic search co-ordinated by Aberdeen
Coastguard in a East to West direction 1.5 to 3 miles offshore from the
entrance from Nairn Harbour with other SAR units searching the inshore waters.

In wet
conditions with moderate visibility the volunteer crew completed a full search of the area
and reported no sighting.

 

Aberdeen
Coastguard requested the stand down of SAR units around 2.25am.

 

Invergordon
Lifeboat made her way back to Invergordon West Harbour, refuelled and made ready
for service by 3.10am.

 

HM Coastguard
and Police Scotland are still continuing searches and no further details are
available this time.
