The
fundraisers, of Easter Ross branch are a team of volunteers from the local
community, partners and family of crew, that work continuously to raise money
for the RNLI and Invergordon Lifeboat Station.
Recognised
for gratitude and appreciation for outstanding contribution to the work of the
lifeboat service and helping save lives at sea, the award was presented to
Station Mechanic and Fundraising Chairman Kevin Dent at the award ceremony held
in Perth’s Concert Hall on Thursday 12th June.
The
Branch work closely with the Lifeboat volunteer crew to run a number of
fundraising events each year, including the RNLI / Port Authority Open Day,
RNLI Raft Race, Golf Competitions, Football Competitions, Bad Boy Days and
countless collections at local supermarkets.
Branch
and Station Press Officer Michael MacDonald said “We are delighted to be
awarded this award, and it is a big thanks to everyone involved in the
Fundraising Branch and Lifeboat Station as whole.”
The
work of the fundraisers on averaging brings in around £25,000 – £30,000 per
year for the RNLI, the charity that relies on fundraising and public donations
to ensure a 24/7 Search and Rescue service around UK and Ireland.
