After extensive searching with no one found it was decided that a thorough search was required out to sea as the wind and tide could have taken the person seaward. At 12:01pm the all-weather lifeboat (AWB) was launched and co-ordinated a thorough search with the assistance of the ILB, a pilot boat, a wind farm support vessel and two local fishing vessels. The local mobile Coastguard Units were tasked to cover all the shoreline from Ramsgate main beach along to the town’s Western Undercliff . The RAF SAR helicopter operating from Wattisham airfield also arrived on scene and was co-ordinated directly by Dover Coastguard.

After a thorough search, taking over two hours, and with no person found it was decided by Dover Coastguard that all vessels and helicopter could stand down and return to their bases.
