Criccieth-lifeboat-launches-to-investigate-two-unmanned-kayaks

The station’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Doris Joan, was quickly on scene.  The crew recovered the smaller of the two kayaks, leaving a larger kayak in the water as a marker for the ensuing search for occupants.  The lifeboat conducted a thorough search of the bay whilst efforts were made ashore to identify the crafts’ owners and if anyone had been aboard either kayak.

Following a search of around 45 minutes, the lifeboat was stood-down as it was reported that both kayaks had in fact drifted overnight from Abersoch and were unaccompanied.  The crew recovered the second kayak and returned ashore.
