The 40th
Anniversary Dance took place on Saturday 1st November at the town’s
Social Club with the music provided by the extremely talented local band Rhythm
‘n’ Reel.

With
tickets on sale in the leading weeks to the dance, they proved very popular and
with the social club full to capacity the night was classed a great success.

With a
mixture of traditional highland music to well known tracks the dance floor was
full all night long.

As 2014
was the stations 40th Anniversary, Fundraising Chairman and Station
Mechanic Kevin Dent came up with fundraising target of £40,000 for this year.

As the
year progressed, with fundraising events such as our Open Day, Raft Race, Golf
Competition, Bacon roll mornings, not forgetting about our 40th Anniversary Raffle
Draw, which was also drawn at the dance, early indications show the current
figure is now around £43,000 with still a month to go.

Lifeboat
Station and Fundraising Press Officer Michael MacDonald said “ To achieve this
fantastic total in 11 months is a great achievement. It would not of have been
remotely possible without our dedicated supporters, lifeboat volunteer crew
fundraising volunteers, local businesses, local press and everyone associated
with the Lifeboat Station. We would like to say Thank You to everyone in
helping us reach this total which will contribute towards saving lives at sea”.

The 40th
Anniversary Raffle Draw was drawn at the Anniversary Dance, with 1st
prize a ‘Tom’ Log Cabin supplied by local firm Swedscot Log Cabins, Inverness
won by Irene Marandola from Invergordon, 2nd prize a Fatyak double
sea kayak from Ocean Mouldings was won by Mary Hughes from Inverness, with 3rd
prize of a Photo shoot from Allan Law Photography in Beauly going to Peter
MacPherson from Aviemore.
