East-meets-West-at-Rhyl-in-North-Wales!

Byline: Two intrepid fundraising walkers met up at Rhyl RNLI lifeboat station today (Monday 13th April 2015). Alex Ellis-Roswell is travelling clockwise, and Adam Short is travelling anticlockwise around the coast of the Uk, some 6600 miles each.

The walkers are on separate fundraising missions to raise both awareness and funds for the RNLI. Both members are active with Twitter and Facebook accounts, and have websites for online donations. Adam started on his epic journey on 6th March 2014, and Alex on 3rd August 2014.

Both Adam (42) and Alex (22) are trekking round the coast of the UK, and overnighting by camping out, or accepting the hospitality of RNLI lifeboat crews and supporters wherever they stop. Last night they stopped in Rhyl in North Wales, where the local lifeboat crew took them to the stations “local” pub the Cob & Pen (https://www.facebook.com/pages/COB-PEN/535880579772727)  for some sustenance and a few drinks.

Adam and Alex met up again the next morning at the Rhyl RNLI station to swap stories and experiences, and to help each other with tips about the forthcoming parts of their journeys. They then parted, going their separate ways. Adam is about 75% through his task, and Alex about 40%. Adam says ” we are indebted to all the RNLI crews and supporters who have helped us on our mission, such as here at Rhyl, and our spirits are raised to see the community spirit in all these people”.
