A member of the public notified HM coastguard after seeing two kayakers capsize and get themselves into difficulty in a dangerous area south of Amble known as ‘The Triangle’.  The two kayakers were struggling to get themselves ashore.
The inshore lifeboat was first on scene to assist with the all-weather lifeboat as back up. Fortunately the two kayakers were finally able to get themselves ashore by making their way on to the pier where they were met by members of the coastguard and a ambulance crew from North East Ambulance Service who assessed the casualties. It is believed that they received no serious injuries from their ordeal.
The lifeboats recovered the kayaks from the water and brought them ashore to be returned to their owners.
