The 50 runners who took part in the Sheerness Lifeboat 24th annual run on 20 September have so far raised the excellent total of £2,732 for the RNLI.

Sheerness RNLI lifeboat second coxswain Paul Jarvis, who along with his wife Kay organise the event said: ‘On behalf of the RNLI we would like to thank everybody who took part, not only the runners but also the stewards and timekeepers who helped in the success of the event.

‘The amount raised so far is more than double last year’s total and there is still more money to come from a number of runners who took part and have yet to send in their cash.

‘Not only does the event raise much needed funds for the charity but it also helps to raise the profile of the Sheerness lifeboat where we are always looking for volunteers, not just to crew the lifeboats but to help in lots of other ways.’
