Bishop-visits-Angle-lifeboat-station

Byline: The Bishop of St Davids, the Rt. Rev. Wyn Evans, visited RNLI Angle lifeboat station on Thursday (November 19), when a short service was held on board the £2.7m Tamar class all weather lifeboat Mark Mason.
Page Content: He was accompanied by his Chaplain, Canon Paul Mackness; the Rev Geoffrey Howell, Team Vicar for the Monkton Rectorial Benefice, and David Hammond-Williams, Communications Officer for the St Davids Diocese.

They were welcomed by Lifeboat Operations Manager, John Allen-Mirehouse, and Coxswain Lewis Creese. Also present were Deputy Launching Authorities Rosie Allen-Mirehouse and the Rev Mike Brotherton; Lifeboat Mechanic Rich Bowles and Volunteer Crew Members Adam Stringer and Jordan Tuckwell, and members of Angle Church, Sub Wardens Lorna Rees and Les Williams and Lay Reader Sally Denman.

The service was conducted by the Rev Howell and the reading was given by John Allen-Mirehouse. Particularly poignant was the singing of the seafarers’ hymn, ‘Eternal Father, Strong to Save’, with musical accompaniment provided by Sally Denman. The Blessing was given by the Bishop.

Afterwards, the Bishop was given a tour of the state-of-the art lifeboat by Rich Bowles and refreshments were served in the crew room, with its spectacular views over the Milford Haven Waterway.

The Bishop is on a three year pilgrimage to visit every parish and church in his diocese and his call on RNLI Angle was part of his tour of the Monkton Rectorial Benefice.
