Byline: At the recent Gala organised by the Barrow Ladies Lifeboat Guild, Joanne Barrow, on behalf of the Furness Building Society, presented a cheque for £10,765.69 to the Barrow RNLI.
Page Content: The cheque was presented to Jackie Bailey, Treasurer of the Barrow Ladies Lifeboat Guild and President of the Barrow RNLI, Marcus Cardew.
The money was donated as a result of funds invested by individuals in the Furness Building Society’s Affinity Account. Affinity Accounts are linked to particular charities and the more that savers put into their accounts the greater the donation that is made to the associated charity.
This substantial donation will provide a very welcome boost to the costs of operating and maintaining the Barrow station. The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea and relies entirely on voluntary donations to enable its volunteers to undertake their life saving work.
